Celebration of the Resurrection of Christ

Updated: Apr 18

Join us this weekend, as we celebrate the memorial of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We will be holding a special service on Saturday 19 April at Ellenbrook Christian College.

Why Celebrate On That Day?

But, some will say, that's not the day most celebrate is it?

When God first established the Passover, rescuing Israel from Egypt, He always had in mind the ultimate Passover Lamb - Jesus Christ whose life, centuries later, was offered up at the very same time and calendar date as the Passover Lamb was sacrificed.

But the story didn't end with the Passover. The people of Israel still had to be taken out of Egypt and saved from being enslaved once again.

Tradition says that it was on the Last Day of Unleavened Bread - 7 days after the Passover - that the people crossed the Red Sea in a great miracle.

But the miracle of the Resurrection of Christ and of His continuing appearances to His disciples was even greater than the parting of the Red Sea!

And His appearances led quickly to a special meeting days later at the Sea of Galilee, where He restored Peter to leadership and commissioned His disciples to go out into the world to baptise in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, and to teach others to become Christ's disciples - i.e. to follow and keep the commands and teachings of Christ.

That's why we celebrate on days that have different timings to what others expect: because by doing so, we commemorate the events of Christ's life and of God's Plan on the calendar that He delivered. Our memorial celebrations are on the dates of the actual events, according to that original calendar.

Why The Resurrection Matters

But here's the most important thing: Just as the parting of the Red Sea changed everything for ancient Israel, more astonishingly, the Resurrection of Christ changed everything for the whole world.

And the Resurrection changes everything for believers in Christ NOW!

Despite what's going on around the world and in your life right now, the Resurrection means so much more than you or I would ever dream of.

Come, join us this Saturday and hear how the Resurrection affects your life.
